Volunteer with us
We would not be able to give our dogs and cats the high standard of care we are so proud of without our dedicated team of volunteers.
Our volunteers have an essential role at the Sanctuary helping our staff with many different roles including (but not limited to); providing companionship, stimulation and exercise for the animals, assisting our staff in the kennels & the cattery, carrying out admin tasks in the offices, welcoming visitors to the site, helping at fundraising events, carrying out home checks, helping at our charity shops in Clevedon and Nailsea, carrying out grounds maintenance tasks and providing foster care for our cats and dogs. If you have a specific skill that you can offer then please contact us.
Whatever your skills, there will be a way for you to lend us a helping hand. All our volunteers need to be aged over 16 to volunteer with cats and 18+ to volunteer with the dogs. For all other Admin/Fundraising and Site volunteer roles you need to be aged 16+, volunteers under this age may be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is registered as a volunteer with us. Our volunteers commit as much or as little time as they can spare.
To volunteer either download our application form below or pop into the Sanctuary and fill out a form in reception. We will also need to see two forms of ID, both must show your current address and one must be a photographic form of ID (e.g. a recent utility bill and your driving licence/college card). We will then either invite you to attend a health & safety induction course, and to have a tour of site & the walks we take (if you are applying to volunteer with animals), or we will invite you in for an informal chat about the volunteer role you may be interested in (e.g. reception/admin/site or fundraising volunteer). Please bear with us whilst we process the volunteer applications forms, we really appreciate your support and can't wait to get you started!
If you want to volunteer with your company please see our Get Involved section, and have a look at the various different ways your company can support our vital work, from volunteer group days to fundraising events at your work place.
As a charity, we need your help and in return the varied roles we offer look great on your CV, you can develop your existing skills, learn new ones and feel good about yourself too – not to mention the chance to make great new friends with like-minded people!
Specific volunteer roles that we are currently seeking to fill are advertised here.
To get started download the Volunteer Application form now.We look forward to hearing from you.
